Recap

Beware of the Penguins II (Do be do be dooo)

Oakland, CA -- The Puck'n A held the game tight until the third period, as they dropped their first of the season 6-3 to the high flying Penguins II. Their record is 2-1-0, but are facing the Red Dogs next week in what is likely to be a tough match.

The Penguins II opened the scoring with a short handed goal at 11:15 of the first period. It took nearly 5 mintues before the Puck'n A's Brian Centoni scored his first with the club from Scott Gehring at 6:38 tying the score at one goal apiece. The Penguins II's special team's unit regained the lead by netting a powerplay goal with less than four minutes to play in the period.

Juan Castillo scored his second goal of the season by picking up a pass broken up by Mitch Wright to re-tie the score at 2-2. This time the Penguins II star defenseman (Gonz) put one by the Puck'n A netminder and the team never looked back. Puck'n A goalie Ron "Caveman" Steele even took a penalty for interference as he retaliated for being hit on the helmet by Penguins II players sitting in the crease.

The Penguins II came out strong in the third by scoring at 14:45 increasing their lead to 4-2 and later to 5-2 nine minutes later. At the 4:35 mark there was a bit of confusion as the Penguins II again upped their lead to 6-2 on a delayed penalty call again Al Lessa for roughing. The tally never made it to the scoreboard until Scott Gehring scored his first of the game and fourth of the season making the score seamingly 5-3 until the scorekeeper put up the Penguins II's sixth goal scored earlier.

The game was a disappointing loss for the Puck'n A, whose record drops to 2-1-0 and are forced to play the Red Dogs next week. Earlier in the evening Blew By U destroyed the Sharks 18-1 and the Team Acme defeated Penguins I.
