Recap

Tricked into winning

Oakland, CA -- Scott Gehring made his season debut and netted a hat trick to lead the Puck'n A to a 4-2 win over Team Acme. Chris McGrew scored the only other goal for the Puck'n A which have leaped out of the starting gate this season by scoring 14 goals and allowing only 2 in two games.

FACT:
The Puck'n A have won their last 6 regular season games and have won 7 of their last 8 including last season's playoffs.
The first period was played to a scoreless tie as the Puck'n A battled with simply two lines (8 players). Tom Bondur showed up shortly into the second and provided much relief. Scott Gehring didn't wait too long into the second period and knocked in his first of 3 at the 12:45 mark. Team Acme battled back and tied the score at 7:21.

Barely two minutes into the final period, Chris McGrew took a Chuck Gehring pass scoring his 3rd goal of the season and regaining the lead. Again, Team Acme battled back tying the score at 2-2 with 12 minutes left to play. Just under the nine minute mark, however, Chris McGrew fed Scott Gehring a pass to give the Puck'n A the eventual game winning goal. Scott later finished off his hat trick by coming off the benching, taking immediate control of the puck, rushing down the far side and finally blasting a shot past a stunned netminder.

Next week the Puck'n A face a revamped Penguins II club which cleaned the clock of team Armageddon to the tune of 8-4. To boot, the Puck'n A will be missing key players. This game will be a significant test...
