Blew By Who???

Oakland, CA -- Led by Tom Bondur's 2 goals and 2 assists, the Puck'n A started the season out with a bang by beating Blew By U by the score of 10-0. Dennis Arnst scored the hat trick and Juan Castillo scored his first career goal.

Troy Gehring, the newest member of the team, drew first blood on only his second shift by putting a backhand shot past Blew By U netminder Marty Seguin. Tom Bondur got the next two tallies, the second short handed with seven seconds left in the first period.

The second period was relatively quiet, albeit a small altercation broke out as #99 for Blew By U took a 4:00 roughing penalty and Tom Bondur got 2:00 for the retaliation. The teams played three a aside, however once the Puck'n A got the man advantage they took advantage of it. Dennis Arnst rang a shot off the top post and in for the power play goal ending the scoring for the period.

Period number three was a big one for the Puck'n A. Blew By U only had two subs and the fatigue was clear. Roughly four minutes into the period Juan Castillo took a pass from Chuck Gehring and scored his first goal. Two minutes later, however, Al Lessa while hustling back accidently slammed his stick a bit too hard on the surface while diving to make a play and was called for ``Abuse of the sportcourt''. While explaining his position in the way we all know Al, the referee tacked on an additional two minutes for unsportsmanlike conduct. Blew By U was unable to capitalize on the long advantage and in fact gave up a short handed goal to Chris McGrew. The goalie blocked the first shot, but Chris followed it up and jammed it home for the score.

Later in the period, Troy Gehring notched his second of the evening by taking a pass from Mitch Wright. Dennis Arnst finished out the scoring by scoring two goals in the final minute of play giving Ron Steele his first shutout of the season.
