Recap

The rivalry continues as the Puck'n A met Puckzilla for rematch of last seasons semi-final game. The Puck'n A came back twice, but on both occassions Puckzilla turned it up another notch to win the game.

The first period was rather quiet, with Tom Bondur scoring the lone goal for the Puck'n A. Tom threw the puck out in front of the net and it hit the goalie's pads and banked in narrowing Puckzilla's lead to 2-1.

A quick goal in the second period by Scott Gehring tied the score, but less than one minute later Puckzilla's #89 skated end to end sliding the puck past a sprawled out Ron Steele. Two minutes after that, Puckzilla gets the two goal lead back making it 4-2. Al Lessa scored his first goal of the season to close the gap and Chuck Gehring followed it up with his third to tie the game again at the midway point.

Things were looking up as #22 of Puckzilla took a roughing penalty, however #89 of Puckzilla began nailing the coffin lid shut by scoring two short handed goals. His team mates added two more at even strength in the final minute of play giving Puckzilla a commanding 8-4 lead heading into the third.

Chuck Gehring, however, was on a roll. He netted his own shorthanded goal at the 13:00 mark of the third to close the scoring for both teams. As usual the trash talking continued until the final buzzer, but this time Puckzilla came away with the victory.

Don't be surprised if these two teams meet up in the playoffs again this season. If so, be ready for another battle... this rivalry is just starting to heat up.
