Recap

The Puck'n A won a close battle against the Flyers extending their record to 2-0-0 for the season. This matches the teams longest win streak which was obtained in last season's playoffs.

The scoring started relatively early in the game where Mitch Wright picked up the rebound of a Mark Vis shot and backhanded by the netminder. Nearly six minutes later, Mitch won a faceoff in the Flyer's zone and tipped the puck to Mark Vis who notched his second goal in as many games giving the Puck'n A a respectable two goal lead. With a little over two minutes left in the first period, #20 of the Flyers snapped a shot past an outstretched Ron Caveman Steele, cutting the lead to 2-1.

The second period was relatively quite. Chris McGrew had the lone goal mid-way through the period scoring his first goal with the team. The only other action was two two-minute penalties on the Flyers, both for roughing. The Puck'n A were unable to capitalize on either man-advantage.

Less than three minutes into the third, the pressure was on. The Flyers began taking a numerous shots and a lose puck trickled down the goal line and #29 (Dan Silvert, formerly a member of the Puck'n A) jammed it in reducing the lead to a single goal. The Flyers goalie stole the show from there. Several two on one and two on none breaks were turned away by the netminder. "I broke in and saw the five hole wide open", said Mitch Wright, "but once I released the shot, their keeper snapped it closed and smothered the shot".

Despite the good effort put on by the Flyers at the end, the Puck'n A managed to hold on to the lead. Next week, the Puck'n A face the Dragons at 10pm.
