The first period ended with a 0-0 tie and the Puck'n A were holding off the big guns of Puckzilla reasonably well. One goal was waved off because of a man in the crease which helped keep the team's morale up. The best opportunity for the Puck'n A was a Scott Gehring shot that grazed off of the right post leaving nothing but a ring echoing throughout the arena.
Round two opened with a quick goal by Puckzilla's best defenseman (#77). The floodgates were open from that point as Puckzilla scored the next two goals before Bob Cushman put one past the opposing netminder at the 6:50 mark. The second period ended with Puckzilla holding a 4-1 lead.
When the bell rang for the final round it rang fast and loud. Puckzilla opened the third with three goals in the first three minutes, two being on the powerplay. It wasn't until there were four minutes left when the Puck'n A knocked in their second and last of the game. Chuck Gehring took a pass from his son Scott Gehring and threw the puck at the net. After grazing a passing Puckzilla defenseman, it found the back of the net. Puckzilla closed the scoring with only 31 seconds left as #77 put in his fifth goal of the evening.
Well, there is always next season. Despite the loss, the Puck'n A ended the season with a 6-3-0 regular season and 7-4-0 overall. It is their first above .500 season. PUCK'N A.
